Texans QB C.J. Stroud Surprised By ‘Flat’ Performance vs. Ravens

In a game that many had hoped would showcase the Houston Texans’ potential under rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, the team’s performance against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday left much to be desired. Stroud, who had been the center of attention for his strong start to the season, appeared visibly disappointed by his team’s lackluster performance in a game that ended in a tough defeat.

“Honestly, it was a bit flat out there,” Stroud said after the game. “We didn’t execute the way we wanted to, and it showed on the scoreboard. I think we just didn’t have the energy and the focus we’ve had in previous weeks.”

Stroud, who had been impressing with his poise, accuracy, and decision-making through his early games, faced a tough challenge in Baltimore. The Ravens’ defense, known for its aggressive and opportunistic style, created pressure on Stroud throughout the game. Despite the struggles, Stroud showed maturity beyond his years, acknowledging his role in the team’s overall performance.

The Texans offense struggled to find rhythm against the Ravens, as turnovers and missed opportunities stalled their drives. Stroud finished the game with underwhelming statistics, far from the level of play that had made him one of the most exciting young quarterbacks in the league.

“Every game is a learning experience,” Stroud said. “I’ve got to be better. We’ve got to be better as a team. The Ravens were a tough team to face, but we’ll go back to the drawing board, figure it out, and come back stronger next week.”

While the Texans’ offense was contained, Stroud’s leadership remained clear. Despite the setback, the rookie quarterback’s response is a testament to his maturity and potential for growth. Houston fans will be hoping for a bounce-back performance as the team looks to regroup and continue its season with Stroud under center.

The Texans will face another tough test in the coming weeks, and Stroud will be looking to shake off the disappointment of this game. As he pointed out, it’s all part of the journey, and he remains confident in his ability to lead the team forward.
