Former quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs and Washington Huskies, Jacob Eason, has been released by the Green Bay Packers.
Eason was signed by the Packers in July to serve as a third quarterback while Jordan Love was in a contract holdout. However, after securing Love with a historic deal, the Packers decided that maintaining four quarterbacks on the roster was unnecessary.
Eason, who moved from Georgia to Washington after the 2017 national championship game, is now a free agent looking for a new team in the NFL. He declared for the NFL draft following a single season at Washington, where he threw 23 touchdown passes and eight interceptions, having sat out in 2018.
Eason has attempted 10 passes in his NFL career, totaling 84 yards, with two interceptions and no touchdowns. He has participated in two NFL games since being selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
The Colts released him during the 2021 season. Eason has since been part of several teams, including the Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers, and Seattle Seahawks, and was most recently on the New York Giants’ practice squad.
