The Philadelphia Eagles saw their winning streak come to an end at the hands of the Washington Commanders on Sunday. The loss likely cost the Eagles the top seed in the NFC, but more importantly, they lost Jalen Hurts after he left the game with a concussion. Whether he will be able to go in Week 17 against the Dallas Cowboys remains to be seen.
The NFL made a decision following the Eagles’ loss. It was announced on Monday that the Eagles’ clash against the Cowboys was being moved to the 1 pm slot to make room for the more important NFC North matchup between the Packers and the Vikings.
After Philly’s loss to the Commanders, the Cowboys were officially eliminated from the playoff race. That meant that one of the most anticipated games on the schedule doesn’t matter as much anymore.
The Eagles still have plenty to play for. The NFC East title is still up for grabs, and they don’t want to finish worse than the No. 2 seed.
The same can not be said about the Cowboys. Even though they are 4-1 in their last five games, and they have been talking about the importance of continuing to win down the stretch, the game doesn’t have the same appeal it usually does.
When the bitter rivals take the field, however, the intensity is always high. Cowboys star Micah Parsons talked about how much he enjoys it when the Eagles lose, even if it means that Dallas doesn’t make the playoffs. With nothing else to play for, the Cowboys will try to find motivation to hurt Philadelphia’s playoff seeding.
