Projected $90 million superstar expresses interest in playing for Steelers image

The Pittsburgh Steelers have gotten elite play from their edge rushers over the last few seasons, as T.J. Watt is one of the most dominant players in football, and Alex Highsmith is also incredibly productive when on the field.

Highsmith is a fantastic complement to Watt on Pittsburgh’s defensive line, but the Steelers could look to pair the 2021 AP Defensive Player of the Year with another superstar edge rusher in the future, and it seems like one player on the Dallas Cowboys could be interested in playing in Pittsburgh.

Cowboys star Micah Parsons reveals plan if he doesn't have new contract by training camp | Fox News

During a media appearance on Thursday in New Orleans, Cowboys superstar defender Micah Parsons told former NFL cornerback Bryant McFadden that he would love to play for the Steelers in the future.

“I said if I ever returned home, it was going to Pittsburgh,” Parsons told McFadden.

This isn’t the first time Parsons has expressed interest in playing for the Steelers. Last summer, the Pennsylvania native stated that he would be open to playing in Pittsburgh later in his career, partly because of highly respected head coach Mike Tomlin.

“Parsons has no interest in playing anywhere but with the Cowboys. He said it’s important for his legacy and doesn’t want to bounce around. But if he hypothetically did go home later in his career it would be to join the Pittsburgh Steelers not the Philadelphia Eagles, partly because of Mike Tomlin,” Parsons told Cowboys reporter Clarence Hill Jr. in June 2024.

Dallas would be foolish to deal Parsons, as the 25-year-old has posted double-digit sacks in each of his first four seasons and has been a first-team All-Pro selection twice. However, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported on Sunday that the Cowboys have had internal discussions about trading Parsons.

“While there have been no trade talks, sources say there have at least been some internal discussions about whether to pay Parsons or trade him for a king’s ransom. If the Cowboys are willing to listen, they may get it,” Rapoport and Pelissero wrote.

If Parsons is ever available for trade, the Steelers should pursue the four-time Pro Bowler. Parsons would form an electric duo with Watt and take Pittsburgh’s defense to the next level.
