UPDATE: Ravens, QB Cooper Rush agree to two-year deal worth up to $12.2 million.THANHDUNG

The Baltimore Ravens have agreed with quarterback Cooper Rush on a two-year deal worth up to $12.2 million, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Sunday.

This move provides Baltimore with a new backup for Lamar Jackson after previous QB2 Josh Johnson entered free agency.

Rush was originally signed by the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2017, and other than a short summer stint with the Giants in 2020 before being signed back to the Cowboys’ roster, the quarterback has spent the last eight years with Dallas.

Rush has twice been called upon to start multiple games due to injuries to starter Dak Prescott, first going 4-1 in 2022 and then taking over again in Week 10 of the 2024 season when Prescott suffered a season-ending hamstring injury. Rush was 4-4 in his starts last season, with 1,844 pass yards and a 12-5 TD-INT ratio.

In total, Rush is 9-5 in 14 starts (38 games played), with 3,463 yards, 20 touchdowns and a 60.7 completion percentage.

Rush’s departure also leaves an opening in Dallas for a new backup to Prescott. With Rush off the market and Trey Lance also a free agent, the only other backup left on the roster is Will Grier, who split last season between the Eagles and Cowboys practice squads. Dallas COO and co-owner Stephen Jones said last month the team will likely look at selecting a quarterback in April’s draft.
