The Russell Wilson experiment in Pittsburgh may be coming to an end after just one short season. Wilson had previously alluded to the ‘2025 plan‘ being to remain in the Steel City, but one Steelers insider believes those hopes have been dashed.
Insider Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, while appearing on 102.5 WDVE’s Randy Baumann and the DVE Morning Show, revealed that while the original plan was for Wilson to sign a one-year extension to remain with the Pittsburgh Steelers, things have changed.
Dulac stated the following regarding the likelihood of Wilson staying with the Steelers in 2025:
“I think the word that was told to me, that I always use, is the intention on both sides to do another deal. But I don’t think that is going to happen.”
Could the Pittsburgh Steelers’ five-game losing streak under Wilson’s signal-calling to end the season have played a role in their decision-making?
While nothing is officially confirmed, no one can argue that the idea of building the organization around the much younger QB Justin Fields seems like the better decision.
