The Green Bay Packers’ defeat to the future Super Bowl victors in the 2025 NFL playoffs was a tough pill to swallow for both Matt LaFleur and Jordan Love, despite the Philadelphia Eagles clinching the title. After a demanding 2024 NFL season in the NFC North, where an 11-6 record wasn’t enough to surpass the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings, the team recognizes the need for improvement.
Consequently, the offseason is pivotal for the Packers. Though the front office started free agency quietly, they recently re-signed a familiar player for LaFleur and Love. According to Friday’s NFL transactions report, Packers offensive tackle Kadeem Telfort has signed his exclusive rights tender, ensuring his stay in Green Bay for the 2025 season.
At 26, Telfort joined the Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2023 and spent his rookie year on the practice squad. He made his NFL debut in his second year, appearing in 16 games with 23 offensive snaps and 79 on special teams. Josh Jacobs suggests that Love and the Packers could use a top-tier weapon.
The franchise is expected to be active in trades to support Love ahead of Week 1. Running back Josh Jacobs emphasized the need for an experienced wide receiver on Milwaukee’s The Game radio station during Super Bowl week, reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Our receiving corps is quite young,” Jacobs said. “They all have the potential to be exceptional, but we could use a proven No. 1 wideout—someone consistently reliable.”
In response, the Packers recently bolstered their receiving unit by signing veteran wide receiver and return specialist Mecole Hardman, a three-time Super Bowl winner with the Kansas City Chiefs, alongside Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and Travis Kelce. While Hardman may not fit the mold of the No. 1 receiver Jacobs described, his presence adds veteran experience to the Packers’ receiving group. Moreover, Hardman brings years of experience and championship-winning knowledge to the team.
