UPDATE: Vikings assistant Grant Udinski completes interview for Bucs’ open OC job.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continued their immediate efforts to find a new offensive coordinator on Saturday afternoon, completing a virtual interview with Grant Udinski, the Minnesota Vikings’ assistant offensive coordinator/assistant quarterbacks coach. Earlier in the day, the team had done the same with Marcus Brady, the Los Angeles Chargers’ pass game coordinator.

The Buccaneers are seeking to replace Liam Coen, who was named the Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach on Friday.

Udinski has been on Kevin O’Connell’s staff in Minnesota since 2022, starting as an assistant to the head coach/special projects. He was promoted to assistant quarterbacks coach in 2023 before taking on his current title this past season.

The Vikings fielded a potent offense in 2024, which helped them finish the regular season with a 14-3 record and a Wild Card berth in the playoffs. Minnesota scored the ninth-most points in the NFL (25.4 per game) while ranking sixth in the NFL in passing yards (237.8) and seventh in yards per pass play (7.38).

In his first season with the Vikings after spending 2023 as a backup in San Francisco, quarterback Sam Darnold produced a career year with 4,319 passing yards and 35 touchdown passes. Those were both single-season best for Darnold by a wide margin, as were his 66.2% completion rate and his 102.5 passer rating.

After playing college football at Davidson and Towson, Udinski began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Baylor in 2019. A year later, he followed Matt Rhule to the Carolina Panthers, where spent two years as a coaching assistant before being hired by O’Connell.
