Video: Crutch on both sides Dak Prescott arrives for Cowboys-Texans MNF after surgery.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott did not play against rivals the Philadelphia Eagles in week 10 due to a hamstring injury. He stood on the sidelines in street clothes and watched the Eagles destroy his team while on crutches.

A few days later, on Wednesday, the 31-year-old underwent surgery, and the Cowboys officially put him on injured reserve. It signaled the end of his season, but that doesn’t mean he will stay away from the action.

On Monday, November 18, the Cowboys welcomed crosstown rivals the Houston Texans to the AT&T Stadium, which was the venue for the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul fight during the weekend. One by one, all the stars from the two teams arrived in their expensive cars, and the cameras picked up a familiar vehicle in the parking spot.

Dak Prescott struggled to get out with his crutches, but once out, he smiled at the camera and slowly walked toward the Cowboys’ locker room.

Moments later, Prescott was seen joining his teammates at the dugout. He may need to watch himself while on the sidelines for stray tackles flying in.

The Cowboys’ start to the season did not go according to plan, even after they made Prescott the highest player in the NFL. They won just three games while he played under the center.

In week nine, the team from Dallas played the Atlanta Falcons, and during the game, Prescott tried to run the ball uncritically and pulled his hamstring while trying to throw a regulation pass to one of his teammates. He played through loss but later revealed a feeling something he had never experienced before.

The doctors went through extensive tests to conclude a hamstring tear that required surgery to fix; otherwise, he risked suffering permanent injury. Cooper Rush replaced Prescott for the divisional rivalry against the Eagles last week. Trey Lance also had his first snaps of the season, but it mattered little as the Eagles won 34-6.

Before his season ended, Dak Prescott threw 185 completions for 1978 yards (247.3 yards per game), 11 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. This was a complete 180 from his 2023 season numbers when he eclipsed 4500 passing yards for the second time in his NFL career. He led the league with 410 completions, 36 passing touchdowns, and just 9 interceptions.

The Cowboys will undoubtedly miss his presence as the quarterback on the field and a leader in the locker room. For the time being, Jerry Jones has to rely on Rush and Lance to salvage whatever pride they have left in the remaining games.
