Vikings insider reveals Minnesota’s true feelings about trading for Jonathan Allen..ANHTRUC.

The Minnesota Vikings have some work to do this offseason. Despite having a 14-win season in 2024, the team has multiple contributors expected to leave in free agency, putting a lot of focus on acquiring talent.

Free agency and the 2025 NFL Draft will both bring some talent to the Vikings, but Minnesota may also look to make some deals for players they feel could help take this roster to the next level this season.

Washington Commanders defensive lineman Jonathan Allen has been linked to the purple and gold on social media, but there haven’t been many rumblings from sources close to the team about interest in acquiring his services.

Andrew Krammer of the Star Tribune recently appeared on Vikings Happy Hour. The conversation shifted to the possibility of the Minnesota Vikings trading for Jonathan Allen and it didn’t sound like it was something likely to happen.

“I have not heard that the Vikings are interested in that at all. And Jonathan Allen is going to be 30 years old, I believe, costing 15-plus million dollars next year. I think they’re going to look for more cost-effective, long-term solutions on the interior.”

Defensive tackle Jonathan Allen is a six-foot-three, 300-pound disruptor in the middle of the trenches. A two-time Pro Bowl defender, Allen was the No. 17 overall pick of Washington in the 2017 NFL Draft.

The Minnesota Vikings may have other needs to fill this offseason, but the team can’t look past opportunities to improve the trenches. Getting better play from the interior of the offensive line and their defensive front could help to take this roster to the next level in 2025.

Krammer does believe that the Vikings could look to what is a strong draft class of defensive linemen this year. Minnesota is limited in the number of draft picks they have in this draft, but the right big man in the right spot would make a lot of sense.

There will be a lot of pressure on general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah to get those decisions right. Acquiring talent while balancing the salary cap and keeping the roster cohesive is a huge challenge but one Minnesota’s GM is ready to tackle this offseason.

Even if Jonathan Allen doesn’t come to the Minnesota Vikings this offseason, the purple and gold should still be an interesting team to watch this offseason as they prepare to return to the postseason and challenge for the NFC North crown.
