Novak Djokovic was the defending champion when he entered SW19 in 2019. He defended his title and won his fifth Wimbledon title but it obviously didn’t come with ease.
In the final, he met Roger Federer and denied the Swiss maestro his ninth Wimbledon title. Djokovic in an interview admitted that though Federer was a tough nut to crack, he found a way to defeat him.
Djokovic won that match with a scoreline of 7–6(7-5), 1–6, 7–6(7-4), 4–6, 13–12(7-3). Although Federer never won a Grand Slam post his 2018 Australian Open win, Djokovic’s next Major wins also included his 2021 and 2022 Wimbledon victories.
Who has the highest tennis IQ? In the eyes of most, it’s either Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, or Roger Federer. But Nick Kyrgios thinks he surpasses them all. During an interview, Kyrgios explained what makes him the most intelligent player in the history of tennis.
Kyrgios reached his first and only Major final at the 2022 Wimbledon. He received a walkover from Nadal in the semifinals as the Spaniard withdrew from the match due to an abdominal tear.
In the final, the 24-time Grand Slam champion lost the first set but went on to win the next three to win his seventh title at SW19. Djokovic, even though reached two more Wimbledon finals (2023 and 2024), failed to win the trophy after losing both finals to Carlos Alcaraz.
Kyrgios on the other hand has planned to play in Australia next year after missing tennis for more than a year due to multiple injuries. He wants to participate at the Brisbane International to get some match practice before the Australian Open where he reached the quarterfinals in 2015.
