Tavia Hunt, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, reflected on the difficult days that have followed her family since the Chiefs’ loss in Super Bowl LIX.

“Don’t let the smile deceive you—this past month has been one of the most challenging of my life,” Tavia, 53, posted via Instagram on Sunday, March 23, alongside a carousel of recent photos. “One of our children recently said, ‘I want to marry someone I can suffer with, because life is hard and we all endure suffering.’ That observation stopped me in my tracks.”

Tavia and Clark, 60, got married in October 1993 and share three children: daughter Gracie, 25, son Knobel, 22, and daughter Ava, 19.

The Chiefs — who Clark inherited in 2006 after the death of his father, Lamar — lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX on February 9.

Why Tavia Hunt, Wife of Chiefs Owner Clark Hunt, Had to Take a ‘Walk of Shame’

“I’m so grateful for a life partner who is steadfast, whose compass always points due North,” Tavia’s post continued. “I’m thankful for wise, faithful friends who will sit with me, speak truth, and intercede in prayer. And most of all, I’m thankful for a God who is still in control—even when my world feels like it’s unraveling—who goes before me and walks beside me, even in the lowest valleys.”

She added, “Life is hard. No matter who you are or what your circumstances may be.

When your parents are aging, your children are struggling, a loved one gets a diagnosis, and life keeps coming at you like a freight train—it’s everything to have a firm foundation. An anchor for your soul.”

Tavia — who credited God with securing the Chiefs’ third consecutive Super Bowl berth last month — posted a series of her favorite Bible verses in her social media post and concluded, “I remind myself… hold fast. God is not finished yet. 🙏🏼”

While she didn’t say anything about football in Sunday’s post, Tavia previously admitted she was left “heartbroken” by Chiefs’ loss to the Eagles.

“This season, this journey, and all the joy along the way have been a blessing,” she shared via Instagram. “Chiefs Kingdom, you are the best fans. We don’t hang our heads—and we take the high road. Adversity makes us stronger, and we will lean in, learn, and grow from it.”

Tavia added, “Football is our business, and while winning is exhilarating, losing is painful. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: joy, contentment, and purpose cannot be found in trophies, victories, or anything this world offers—they can only be found in God. We all have a God-shaped hole in our hearts, and no earthly success can ever truly satisfy.”
