For many parents, letting their children adopt dogs, cats, ducks, goats, etc. is unthinkable. Because they are afraid that their children will be soiled by those animals, scratched on their faces, or taking care of them, they do not have time to take care of their pets. So in fact, many parents flatly refuse to adopt an animal of their child.
However, Dr. Hal Herzog – Emeritus Professor of Psychology at Western Carolina University (USA) has conducted research on how pets affect children. Specifically, Dr. Herzog and her research team analyzed questionnaires on the physical and mental health of children in families with at least one child aged between 5 and 10 years old.
Out of a total of 5,191 children participating in the study, 2,236 were kept and played with pets, and the rest were parents who did not allow pets. The results showed that children who were cared for and played with animals were healthier, more obedient, more physically active, less irritable, and did better in school.
Thus, it can be said that adopting a pet brings more benefits than parents think. Even the friendship between children and animals is sometimes so close that the two see each other as soulmates.
As a photography enthusiast and international award winner, photographer Andrea Martin, from Virginia (USA), loves taking pictures of children and animals. Through her photos, she wants to capture and preserve fleeting moments in the friendship between children and pets.
“Photography is my passion. Every shoot, I put my heart and soul into it. As a mother of four children, I find nothing more important than capturing and preserving the fleeting moments of children ,” shared Andrea.
The mother of four also shared that she has received many orders from parents to take pictures for their children. Therefore, she has many opportunities to approach the love between children and pets. And every picture taken by photographer Andrea is soft and warm because of this special friendship.
Admire the series of photos of children and pets to see how gentle but warm, peaceful and lovely this friendship is.
