The Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings will play for all the marbles in the Week 18 showdown at Ford Field on Sunday night, and Lions star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson will be in the house cheering his team on.
Of course, Hutchinson suffered a broken tibia and fibula back in Week 6 that was a major blow to the Lions’ defense. Making it even worse, Hutchinson was the early favorite for Defensive Player of the Year honors after getting off to a great start, posting 7.5 sacks over his first five games.
As he has recovered from his injury, Hutchinson has not allowed that to stop him from going to Lions games to support his team. Check out the video of Hutch at Ford Field on Sunday night.
While Hutchinson still needs more time to recover from his injury, he revealed that he is targeting the Super Bowl as his return date if the Lions get that far.
“I’m on track for my goal of returning for the Super Bowl,” Hutchinson said. “And so, I keep telling all the boys when I see them in the (Lions) facility, ‘you’ve just to get there. And I promise you I’m going to be back.'”
Hutchison showed off his latest progress about one week ago in a post to Instagram. Hutchinson revealed that he’s now jogging in a pool.
“Making strides,” Hutchinson wrote in the caption.
While it’s great to know that Hutchinson could make it back by the Super Bowl, that won’t matter if the Lions don’t make it that far. The first step in doing so will be on Sunday night, when they try to secure the No. 1 seed against the Vikings.
