Hall of Famer, three-time World Series champion, and Boston sports icon David Ortiz, affectionately known as “Big Papi,” is stepping into the holiday spotlight in a whole new way — by starring in an upcoming Hallmark Channel Christmas movie alongside other legendary athletes.
The film, titled “Home Run for the Holidays,” will feature Ortiz in a leading role as a retired baseball player who returns to his hometown just in time for the holidays — only to find the local youth baseball league in danger of shutting down. Through laughter, teamwork, and a little holiday magic, his character brings the town back together and rediscovers what really matters.
“It’s a different kind of dugout, but the same kind of heart,” Ortiz said with a grin. “Spreading joy, giving back, and bringing people together — that’s what this season is all about.”
The Hallmark Channel praised Ortiz’s charisma and presence, calling him a “natural on screen” and a “symbol of hope and resilience both on and off the field.” He’ll be joined by a handful of other sports legends in cameo roles, making this one of the most anticipated holiday specials of the year.
Red Sox fans are already buzzing, with many joking that “Big Papi just hit another home run — straight into our hearts.”
Whether he’s launching balls over the Green Monster or delivering heartfelt monologues under twinkling lights, David Ortiz is ready to make this holiday season one to remember.
Get ready — because this December, Big Papi is bringing the magic of Fenway Park to the Hallmark Channel.
