“It’s frustrating to see how some decisions can change the course of a game. We feel that we did not receive fair treatment at certain crucial moments,” Ryans said.

“We knew coming in today, it was us against everyone, and when I say everyone, it’s everyone. All the … whatever, the detractors, the skeptics… everyone,” Ryans said after the loss, when asked about a couple of controversial decisions involving Mahomes.

Ryans hinted that the Texans already expected to have to deal with the refereeing decisions, as well as acknowledging that his team also made mistakes that cost them the loss.

“Knowing what we’re up against in this game, we can’t make the same mistakes we made,” Ryans said.

The first play Ryans complained about was on the Chiefs’ first drive, when at the end of the first quarter for unnecessary roughness by Will Anderson Jr. on Patrick Mahomes.

Meanwhile, the second penalty, which was also for 15 yards, was for a late hit by Henry To’oTo’o on Mahomes, in a series that ended with an 11-yard pass to Travis Kelce for the Chiefs to extend the lead to 20-12.
