The 2025 NFL Draft has some depth at key positions that the Bucs have needs in heading into the 2025 season. One of those positions is tight end, where the Bucs have Cade Otton under contract for one more year but have been struggling to get much production out of the position or Otton.
Bleacher Report named their best draft fits for the top tight ends in the NFL Draft and the Bucs were a landing spot for one of them.
They describe his position as not a tight end exactly but rather as a power slot which would be interesting to see work within Liam Coen’s offense. Even in the event the team is able to bring back Chris Godwin, Gadsden II would be a fun chess piece for them to use both in-line as a tight end or out wide at receiver.
Tight ends take time to develop in the NFL as blocking and scheme usage varies from college. In the case of Cade Otton, we saw some promise after Godwin was out for the year, but after three hot weeks, he quickly cooled back down despite Baker Mayfield’s best efforts to get him the ball.
