UPDATE: Detroit Lions star suffers horrific injury moments into Commanders playoff game..tn

Amik Robertson became the latest Detroit Lions player to suffer an injury after hurting his elbow against the Washington Commanders, with fans left fearing the worst…

Detroit Lions cornerback Amik Robertson suffered a nasty injury early in the first quarter against the Washington Commanders, as defensive injuries continue to haunt head coach Dan Campbell.

Robertson attempted to tackle Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin when Lions safety Kerby Joseph slammed into both players to end the play. While it stopped McLaurin from picking up additional yards after he already secured the first down, Robertson stayed down on the field.

Worrying replays showed Robertson’s arm in an unnatural position, and he was ruled questionable to return with an elbow injury after checking out of the game. He was soon downgraded to out. The Lions had 13 defensive players on injury report heading into Saturday’s NFL playoff game, and are yet to learn the extent of Robertson’s injury.

The Lions have been troubled with injuries all season, with 16 players on injured reserve before their first postseason snap. It’s a testament to the Lions and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, as Detroit still secured the No. 1 seed in the NFC with a 15-2 regular-season record.

The biggest defensive loss this season was defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, although he may return providing the Lions avoid elimination. Hutchinson isn’t alone in the treatment room, with several other defensive threats still yet to return.

Currently, out for the Lions are: Derrick Barnes, LB (knee), John Cominsky, DE (knee), Carlton Davis III, CB (jaw), Marcus Davenport, DE (triceps), Khalil Dorsey, CB (ankle), Nate Lynn, DE (shoulder), Alim McNeill, DT (knee), Emmanuel Moseley, CB (NFI), Kyle Peko, DT (pectoral), Ennis Rakestraw Jr., CB (hamstring/illness), Malcolm Rodriguez, LB (knee), and Mekhi Wingo, DT (knee).

The Lions did receive some good news heading into Saturday’s Divisional Round clash against the Commanders, as running back David Montgomery returned to the lineup. Montgomery was hurt in the Week 15 loss to the Buffalo Bills, but his supposed season-ending injury wasn’t as serious as first feared.

Back in December, Campbell brushed off the injury concerns by claiming that it humbled the Lions and kept their star roster grounded. “You know, what happens is you get used to eating filet — and I’m talking all of us — and everything’s good,” Campbell said during his regular appearance on Detroit’s 97.1 ‘The Ticket.’

“Life’s good, but you forgot what it was like when you had nothing and you ate your f—— molded bread. It was just fine, and it gave you everything you needed. Sometimes you gotta get punched in the mouth and remember what it used to be like to really appreciate where you are, and we’ll do that.”

It’s also changed Campbell’s mindset when it comes to winning games, as he focuses on getting over the line rather than doing so in style. “I don’t give a crap whether we gotta win by one point for the rest of the year, that’s what we’re going to do,” Campbell added.

“And I’m going to be happy about it. We come out of the game with 50 yards of total offense, and we win by one? You’re going to see smiles on my face. I promise you. If it’s the other way, defensively we give up 700 yards, and we win by one point, you’re going to see a f—— smile from my ear to ear, all right? I can promise you. So, we’re going to find a way, and we’re going to get it done.”
