Former Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams Make Jets Franchise History in 32-25 Win.. – VC

When the Green Bay Packers traded away All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams and four-time NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers in back-to-back offseasons, few imagined that the futures of everyone involved would play out the way they have.

Jordan Love, the new Packers starting quarterback, was unproven and had more than his fair share of doubters. Many did not believe that Green Bay would be competitive again any time soon. However, Love led the Packers back to the NFL Playoffs in his first season as the starter and is poised to do so again this season.

Adams and his new team, the Las Vegas Raiders, were brimming with potential. But quarterback Derek Carr did not make it through the entire 2022 season before being sent home and eventually traded. After another season and a half of losing, Adams was reunited with Rodgers on the New York Jets.

For Rodgers, his 2023 season ended after just four offensive plays when he tore his Achilles. His 2024 season has been suboptimal with New York currently 4-10. They have fired their head coach and general manager, the future of both Rodgers and Adams with the Jets beyond this season is far from certain.

But today they made history.

It what was a back-and-forth affair with the 3-10 (now 3-11) Jacksonville Jaguars, both Rodgers and Adams etched their names into their franchise’s history books, just as they did so many times in Green Bay.

After not recording a single catch in the first half, Adams exploded for nine receptions for 198 yards and two touchdowns in the second half.

According to Jets insider Rich Cimini, that is the seventh-highest receiving yards total for any player in franchise history. It is also the second-highest by a player since Joe Namath left the team (Eric Decker had 221 in 2014).

Also according to Cimini, Rodgers became the first player in the franchise’s history to throw three touchdowns, zero interceptions, and have 45 rushing yards. The four-time NFL MVP ended the day 16/30 for 298 yards, three touchdowns, and no picks. His 45 rushing yards led the team.

Finally, Adams’ first touchdown reception of the day was his 100th of his career.

New York improved to 4-10 with their 32-25 win.
